Video Smoke Detection

It protects against fire-related risks, including toxic gases, harmful particulates, and life-threatening physical hazards.

Fire Alarm Control

- The ONYX Series of intelligent fire alarm control systems from NOTIFIER of Northford, Connecticut, is UL 864 Ninth Edition listed. The company has designed the control panels to speed alarm response, simplify maintenance and usability, and maximize flexibility.

Audible Exit Sign

- Systems Sensor of St. Charles, Illinois, has improved its ExitPoint directional sounder to include voice messaging. In trials, the audible exit sign has reduced evacuation times up to 75 percent in smoky conditions and up to 35 percent without smoke. Once an alarm has alerted people to a threat, the sounder plays a recorded alert message, such as “stairs up,” “stairs down,” “area of refuge,” and “exit here.”

- Honeywell of Louisville, Kentucky, has launched Pro-Watch Release 3.7 software, which offers a complete security management solution, including access control, alarm monitoring, video badging, and CCTV system interface.

Power distribution

- New FireSwitch Power Distribution Modules from Altronix of Brooklyn, New York, are designed for use with access control locking devices. They incorporate an FACP interface to unlock doors and enable emergency egress when fire alarms are activated.

Carbon monoxide alert

- SimplexGrinnell of Westminster, Massachusetts, has added a carbon monoxide (CO) detection kit to its portfolio of life-safety solutions. The kit enables the company’s fire alarm systems to detect excessive levels of poisonous CO and warn building occupants of the condition.

Power control

- The Maxim Access/Power/Controller Product Series from Altronix of Brooklyn, New York, offers power choices for system designers and installers. It provides an integrated approach to routing power in large industrial systems.
