Organizational Security Management degree

Posted by c.kemp on Mon, 11/16/2009 - 17:29

I am considering getting a degree in Organizational Security Management from the University of Phoenix. I have background in law enforcement and corrections, and was wondering what kind of entry level management position someone with a degree and my kind of experience could look forward to? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

When hiring employees.

In my opinion you need to focus your search a little more. When hiring employees, particularly at a management level, serious security firms are looking for candidates who have a drive for the particular line of security their business is in. Sadly, it’s a bad market for jobseekers, with employers having a surfeit of applicants to choose from. Your best bet is to turn this to your advantage and focus your efforts on the particular field that appeals to you most if you really want to score a management job right off your degree! Nobody wants to hire somebody who’s ‘just qualified enough’, they are looking for someone who really, really is excited about the job.
