Two bombs exploded around 3p.m. today as runners approached the finish line at the Boston Marathon, killing at least two and injuring a reported 23, according to early news reports. "Officials said a third explosion, heard around 4 p.m., was a “controlled blast” staged as part of bomb squad activity," reports Boston.com, which also reported that the AP said two other explosive devices were also found and dismantled by police.
"The New York Police Department has stepped up security around landmarks in Manhattan," reports USA Today.
CNN reports that the Red Cross has established a Web site to help people find loved ones.
