ASIS Salutes the Accolades Victors

By ASIS Newspaper Staff

ASIS International President Geoff T. Craighead announced the winners of the Annual Accolades Awards at Tuesday’s networking luncheon. The awards are bestowed each year to innovative new security products that have been released during the previous year. A team of judges—who are both experts in physical and information security, as well as end users—make the winning selections.

The 2013 ASIS Accolades Competition: Security’s Best Award winners are:

Axis Communications (Booth #1034), which won for its AXIS P12 Network Camera Series. The miniature AXIS p12 Series Network Camera provides HDTV 720p video in H.264 or motion JPEG. Its small size and innovative design enables installation into the most limited of spaces. Features include motion detection, active tampering alarm, Power over Ethernet support, and edge storage for a self-contained covert surveillance solution.

DAQ Electronics, LLC (Booth #2319), received an Accolades Award for EntroWatch, the world’s first access control system offering PoE/PoE+ and native BACnet technology. An open protocol approach allows for direct communication with ANSI/ASHRAE 135-2010 compliant systems and enables integration of access control, security, and building management systems.

FST21 Ltd. (Booth #343) was honored for Digital Doorman, which simplifies installation at any electronic locked door within 90 minutes. Enrollment takes 30 seconds and the system learns the rest automatically. Visitors can use the QR code, keypad, or call to be logged into the system.

HID Global (Booth #329) has won an Accolades Award for the iCLASS SE Encoder that enables organizations to encode several credential technologies from a single device. It is ideal for migrating current systems over time and provides versatility in key management with the option of allowing customers to define and manage keys locally.

Medeco Security Locks, an ASSA ABLOY Group Company (Booth #127) won an Accolade Award for the Medeco M100 iClassAperio eCylinder, which offers an easy retrofit solution for mechanical door hardware, adding access control to any door in the time it takes to switch out a cylinder. Local wireless communication between the M100 and an Aperio hub connects to the existing EAC system, eliminating the cost and inconvenience of bringing wiring to the door.

Samsung Techwin America (Booth #853) was recognized for the Network Spider Cam, which captures FULL HD images in complete and total darkness up to 328 feet. This network PTZ dome comes with a 20x optical zoom and focused IR illumination that focuses on objects at a distance as the camera zooms. The camera has an IP66 environment protected and IK10 vandal-resistant rating.

Sargent Manufacturing Company and Corbin Russwin, ASSA ABLOY Group companies (Booth #127), have won an Accolades Award for the IN120 Wi-Fi Lock. The product uses 802.11 Wi-Fi infrastructure and a flexible feature set for easier, cost-effective installations, allowing facilities to expand access control coverage to more doors.

Securitron Magnalock Corporation, an ASSA ABLOY Group Company (Booth #127), was selected for an award for the Securitron R100 Surface Mounted Wireless Reader. The product offers an aesthetically appealing way to extend access control to glass entryways. The R100 uses wireless communication between the reader and an Aperio hub to connect to the access control system. Installation no longer requires pulling and hiding wire at the door or pedestal.

SRI International Sarnoff (Booth #585) won for the IOM PassThru Drive-up Biometric System for vehicle entry points, extending the use of iris and face authentication to the perimeter. Fast and easy to use, the automated system performs in all lighting and weather conditions. Users get an enhanced level of security with the efficiency of an unmanned system.

Thermal Imaging Radar, LLC (Booth #1937), was honored for Thermal Radar, a continuously rotating LWIR camera that provides intelligent, high-definition thermal surveillance. The camera produces full 360-degree thermal images every second that are completely geospatial. A powerful onboard computer analyzes these images and sends alerts via built in Wi-Fi, Cell or Satellite modems.

Of note for seminar and exhibits attendees: for the first time, they will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite submission. Voting will be done on Wednesday, September 25 via the ASIS 2013 mobile app or by using voting kiosks located in the Accolades Showcase on the exhibit floor. The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced on Thursday, September 26, at the luncheon.
