Blast-Resistant Drapes

Appears in the issue.

Cascade Coil Drapery, Inc., of Tualatin, Oregon, has introduced GuardianCoil, a new blast-mitigation fabric. It works by stopping and/or entrapping flying objects such as glass shards that result from bomb blasts or explosions. The interwoven metal coils stretch to absorb flying glass splinters and other objects. The special retainment system catches and deposits glass on the floor below a protected window. The draperies can be customized for any window, and they are available in carbon steel or stainless steel in several gauges and colors. The fabric is available to government agencies under General Services Administration categories, “Blast Mitigation” and “Architectural Drapery.”
